AllBright Co-Sponsors Competition & Anti-Monopoly Law Conference
2014-02-1910808On February 15, 2014, AllBright Law Offices and East China University of Politics and Law (ECUPL) Center for Competition Law jointly sponsored a “Competition & Anti-Monopoly Law and Best Practices” conference at the Ritz-Carlton in Pudong, Shanghai. Conference attendees included experts from the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, and in-house legal counsels from many state-owned enterprises and multinational companies.
AllBright partner David Tang presided over the conference and firm managing director Wu Mingde gave the opening remarks. Experts from the Shanghai High People’s Court, the Shanghai NDRC Pricing Supervision and Anti-Monopoly Bureau, and the Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce analyzed recent high-profile anti-monopoly and anti-commercial bribery cases, such as the Johnson & Johnson monopoly agreement dispute, and monopoly pricing cases separately involving Moutai, Wuliangye and infant powder manufacturers, and the GSK commercial bribery case. Additionally, the experts thoroughly discussed and analyzed new trends in judicial practice and regulatory enforcement involving anti-monopoly and anti-commercial bribery law. Those presenting at the conference included ECUPL faculty Prof. Xu Shiying, Dr. Ding Maozhong, and Dr. Zhong Gang, and AllBright partners James Miao, John Liu and Susan Guo.
During the conference, the speakers discussed hot topics such as the elements of a monopoly agreement, identification of monopoly pricing, and the scope of commercial bribery. In addition, the speakers answered commonly encountered questions regarding anti-monopoly and anti-commercial bribery law. The attendees praised the speakers for their insights into business compliance and risk control matters.
