AllBright Lawyers attend 2nd IBA Asia-based International Financial Law Conference

The 2nd International Bar Association (“IBA”) Asia-based International Financial Law Conference was convened on schedule in March 9-11 in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. There were nearly 1,800 lawyers from 44 different jurisdictions of the world attending this Conference. AllBright’s team led by OUYANG Jun was invited and therefore delegated YU Zhengchun and ZHANG Lin to attend the Conference. IBA, founded in 1947, is a self-disciplined association consists of international legal practitioners, lawyers and law societies. The IBA plays a crucial role as a leader in driving the international law reform and the development of legal professionalization throughout the world. The IBA currently has a membership of nearly 80,000 individual lawyers and 190 bar associations from 160 countries, and is the most influential international bar association in the world.
The topics of the Conference included opportunities and challenges in Asian capital markets, cross-border investment and trade dispute resolution, cross-border banking business in Asia, financial business growth in Middle East, standard documents of banking business in Asia, financing mergers and acquisitions in Asia, and Asian sovereign wealth funds, etc. The above topics were divided into 10 sessions which would be illustrated and discussed by legal experts in different sectors in terms of the market environment, legal status and developing trend concerned. In addition, there was Q&A in each session so that guest speakers and audience might get in-depth and effective interaction.
During their stay in Singapore, YU Zhengchun and ZHANG Lin visited Allen&Gledhill—top law firm in Singapore and the Singapore office of GIBSON DUNN. They exchanged views with these two law firms on cross-border M&A, oversea listing and REITS and reached preliminary intention on future cooperation.
Allen&Gledhill is the largest law firm in Singapore and also excels in REITS among all law firms in Singapore, which advised 32 of the aggregate 35 Real Estate Investment Trust (REITS) in Singapore market.
