Li Xianming is a partner at AllBright Law Offices in Shanghai and Beijing. His practice areas include banking and finance, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and securities and capital markets. Mr. Li has spent the last two decades focusing on business fields such as financial trusts, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and direct investment. Mr. Li has pioneered many innovations regarding the design and implementation of trusts. For example, Mr. Li designed the first collective fund trust after the implementation of Trust Law and the first trust of its kind to use collective trust funds for primary land development. He has provided legal services during the establishment of Shanghai Trust Registration Center and has served as its retained legal counsel after its establishment. Mr. Li previously taught lawat Jilin University Law School. He has also worked as a part-time lawyer at a law firm and engaged in legal consulting related to finance, international trade, and foreign investment. Mr. Li has published over thirty papers in newspapers and magazines including Financial Times, China Securities Journal, Shanghai Securities News, Jiefang Daily, and Economic Daily and Financier. He participated in the debate and drafting of financial legislation governed by organizations including the NPC Legislative Affairs Committee and the NPC Standing Committee and Financial and Economic Committee, State Council Legislative Affairs Office, CSRC and CBRC. Such legislation mainly includes the Securities Investment Funds Law, Securities Law, Property Law, Administrative Rules on Trust and Investment Companies, Interim Measures for the Administration of Capital Trust of Trust and Investment Companies, Regulations of State Council on the Administration of Trust Institutions as well as Chinese asset securitization legislation and applicable laws and regulations. Mr. Li is an expert member of the China Trustee Association, a part-time instructor for LL.M. graduate students at Renmin University of China Law School, an expert member of the Shanghai Trust Registration Center, Chairman of Trust Business Research Committee of Shanghai Bar Association, and a member of Banking and Finance Law Research Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association. He was once awarded some honorary titles including “National Outstanding Lawyers 2008-2010”, the second session of Asian Lawyers, “Outstanding Lawyers of Shanghai Municipality 2008-2010”, the second session of “Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers in Pudong New Area” and “Honorable Mention Award for Shanghai’s Third Session of Outstanding Young Lawyers”. Mr. Li obtained his LL.M. from Jilin University in 1994 and an S.J.D. from Renmin University of China in 1999. Mr.Li is a practicing lawyer in China. His working languages are Mandarin and English.
