Shanghai International Commercial Mediation Center is Established

On May 20, 2024, Shanghai International Commercial Mediation Center (SHICMC) was formally established. It then executed a strategic cooperation agreement with Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Benchmark Chambers International & Benchmark International Medication Center and International Dispute Resolution Australia so as to build global cooperation network.
SHICMC is initiated jointly by Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai, World Trade Center Shanghai, Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shanghai International Arbitration Center), Shanghai Enterprises Association, Shanghai Financial Association and Shanghai Foreign Investment Association, and it is the first mediation organization jointly approved by Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice and Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau in Shanghai. Currently, a total number of 161 mediators from 11 countries and regions and with professional knowledge or practical experience in a variety of sectors have been included in the new list of mediators of the medication center. The new version of the mediation rules becomes effective as of May 20, 2024. SHICMC will continue to make every effort to give full play to the professional role of international commercial mediation organization, advance more convenient, cost-effective and efficient resolution of disputes, optimize the investment and business environment in Shanghai, and effectively promote the rule of law in Shanghai.
