China, Timor-Leste Signed Co-operation Plan to Build Belt and Road Initiative

On July 29, 2024, under the joint witness of the two heads of state, Zheng Shanjie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Bendito Freitas, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, signed the Cooperation Plan between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to jointly promote on construction of Belt and Road Initiative (“Cooperation Plan”).
The Cooperation Plan addresses the principle of joint discussion, joint construction, and joint sharing. It also defines the key areas of cooperation between China and Timor-Leste in the construction of the Belt and Road.
