Regulations on Cyber Protection of Minors (Draft for Comments) Issued

On March 14, 2022, the Cyberspace Administration of China issued the Regulation on Cyber Protection of Minors (Draft for Comments) (the “Regulation”) to maintain a healthy online environment and protect minors and their rights in cyberspace.
The Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Justice made the revision on the Regulation based on the recently revised and enacted Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors (Revised in 2020), Personal Information Protection Law, other laws and feedback from the public.
Articles in the Regulation mainly focus on the regulation of online games, online live and online social networking provided by service providers and put forward a series of requirements to protect the minors while they using online services.
