Shao Ming is a partner at AllBright Law Offices in Shanghai. His practice areas include real estate and infrastructure, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and dispute resolution.

Mr. Shao is highly experienced in all aspects of comprehensive real estate projects, these include the development, construction, operation and management of ultra-high-rise “comprehensive commercial landmark buildings”, “creative parks” integrating cultural, leisure and recreational functions, luxurious star-rated tourist hotels and governmental large public infrastructure BOT projects. He is integrally involved in investment and financing of associated enterprises and projects. Mr. Shao also handles construction companies’ intellectual property rights.

Mr. Shao served as legal counsel for companies or projects of dozens of domestic and internationally-known enterprises and has provided various legal services for priority government urban construction projects in Shanghai. Such projects include “the urban best practices area of the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition”, several ultra-high-rise buildings whose height is among the world’s top 10 tallest buildings, large-scale commercial squares in central Shanghai districts, and the concession of public infrastructure projects by reputed listed companies in using the build-transfer (BT) and build, operate, transfer (BOT) approaches to construction projects. Mr. Shao is regularly involved in legal services for hotel management contracts or hotel operation management, projects for leading international hotel management groups and was the first to provide whole-process legal services for Chinese firms to go abroad and manage European international luxury hotel brands. He has also helped promote reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and to issue the corporate bonds of State-owned real estate enterprises, and successfully provided large famous companies in Japan, Sweden and Malaysia with specialized legal services on the equity transfer of foreign-funded companies, and handled the first case of an offshore company in Suzhou acquiring the equity of a foreign-funded enterprise in China.

Mr. Shao has dealt with many significant civil, commercial or IP rights cases covered by national and local mainstream media and which have been widely recognized by the general public.

Mr. Shao graduated from the East China University of Political Science and Law in 1983, was granted LL.B and J.M., and attended the first senior judges training after selection by the Supreme People’s Court of PRC. Mr. Shao has served as an adjudicator, presiding judge of the People’s Court, judicial council member and director of the notary office.

Mr. Shao has published more than 10 academic articles in professional journals, including those regarding hotel management contracts and BT and BOT contracts.

Mr. Shao is a practicing lawyer in China. His working languages are Mandarin and English.
