James J. Lin is an AllBright partner based in Shanghai, where he specializes in foreign direct investment, A, real estate transactions, intellectual property protection, international trade, finance, commercial litigation and arbitration matters.

Prior to joining AllBright Law Offices, Mr. Lin practiced at a couple Shanghai law firms. Recently, he has been engaged as legal counsel for the Shanghai Stock Exchange and many other corporations and institutions. Throughout the span of his career, Mr. Lin was in charge of many international direct investment projects and business transactions. Most of these transactions focused on the areas of securities, oil, petrochemical, automobile, electric, real estate, telecommunication, bank, environment and franchises in China. In addition, he not only successfully represented many international and Chinese clients in many Chinese courts, including the Supreme Court of China, but also represented his clients in the Ontario Supreme Court in Canada, arbitration commissions in the U.S., the Hague of Holland, and the International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission in China through his cooperation with international law firms and international lawyers. Mr. Lin lectured and researched Chinese laws as a faculty member at East China University of Politics Law. He is also a senior researcher at the Shanghai Academy of Social Science Institute of Law. Mr. Lin has published eight books and nineteen articles in many notable magazines and legal presses, such asStudies of Law andLaw of China.

Mr. Lin studied law at East China University of Politics Law and received his LL.B. in 1984 and a LL.M. in 1987. He then pursued advanced studies as a visiting scholar at the Washington University Law School and at the University of Missouri. He is a member of the Shanghai Law Society as well as a member of the All China Lawyer Association. Mr. Lin is fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin and Shanghainese).
